Maxwell hammers 3-run homer to lift Menlo College to baseball win

Sophomore infielder Dalton Maxwell collected three hits and drove in four runs and the Menlo College baseball team beat host William Jessup, 14-4, in a nonconference baseball game Tuesday in Rocklin.

Senior Dean Aliamus added three hits for the Oaks (9-1), who have won nine in a row since dropping its season opener.

Menlo hosts NAIA No. 8 Westmont in a three-game series beginning with a single game Friday at 2 p.m., followed by a Saturday doubleheader, starting at 11 a.m.

The Oaks are 10-15 all-time against the Warriors (6-0), but have won the last two.

Zechariah Jarrad, one of nine pitchers used by Menlo, earned the win with 1 2/3 innings of relief.

The Oaks scored five times in the top of the third, with Julian Jarrard hitting a two-run home run in support of his younger brother and Joe Gillete adding a two-run double. Maxwell also drove in a run.

Maxwell added a three-run homer during a even-run outburst in the eight.

Jordan Getzelman and Reed Kienle each added two hits.
