Menlo College's Holm in top 10 of NAIA regional golf tourney


Menlo College senior Madison Holm finds herself in the top 10 after the first day of the NAIA West Women's golf championships Monday at Hiddenbrooke GC in Vallejo.

Holm, one of three Menlo golfers in the tournament, shot a round of 85, which places her ninth out of 38 individuals playing the par-72 course.

Tiffany Chan was the second Oaks golfer, with a first-round score of 93, good for 17th. Alissa Thompson scored 108 for 30th overall.

Embry-Riddle golfers occupy five of the top seven spots in the field, including the top four. Elle Carlson was medalist for the day, firing a 76. Lauren Kruszewski finished one stroke behind at 77.

Hope International's Allison Weiderman is the highest finisher among Golden State Athletic Conference individuals, shooting an 80.

The three-day tournament continues on Tuesday.
