The band “The Back Pages” will play 1960s-era rock-and-roll and Beatles’ tunes at a free concert on the performance lawn at Portola Valley Town Center on Thursday night, July 20.

The two-hour concert starts at 6 p.m. and overlaps with the weekly farmers’ market in the nearby parking lot of the Historic Schoolhouse at 765 Portola Road.

Vendors at the farmers’ market sell take-away food; when the market coincides with a summer concert, the offerings usually include beer and at least one food truck.

Picnics, including with alcoholic beverages, are OK, as are chairs, children and well-behaved dogs, say organizers. Blankets and warm clothing are recommended. The Town Center includes a playground, restrooms and ample parking.

This is the second of three Thursday night summer concerts on the lawn in Portola Valley. The Cultural Arts Committee has scheduled one more: on Aug. 17, when Will Russ Jr. and the “Force of Will” band are scheduled to play “groovy 1970s motown.”
