The Menlo School girls’ volleyball team won its first five matches at the Hudl Southern California Invitational and finished in third place of the Hudl Division I Bracket after dropping its semifinal match to Canyon Crest Academy, 26-24, 25-15, Saturday at Alliant International University in San Diego.

Menlo beat Eastlake, 26-24, 25-13, and Laguna Beach, 25-11, 25-23, earlier in the day.

The Knights (24-4) visit Sacred Heart Prep in a West Bay Athletic League contest at 6:30 p.m. in the Spieker Sports Complex.

Junior Grace King led Menlo with 25 kills in the three matches played Saturday. She had a team-high 52 for the tournament.

Sianna Houghton and Grace Enright each had effective days on defense. Houghton recorded 10 digs in the win over Eastlake and eight against Laguna Beach. Enright had 12 against the Ravens and 11 against the Breakers.

Canyon Crest Academy was the defending Hudl Division I Gold Bracket champion.

The defending state Division IV champion Knights extended their winning streak to 18 straight before the Ravens ended it in the semifinal.

Ashley Dreyer recorded eight kills against Eastlake and another five against the Ravens.
