Four decades of covering Silicon Valley, from the Homebrew Computer Club in Menlo Park to the Google’s self-driving car, is the topic veteran New York Times science and tech reporter John Markoff will take on tonight (Oct. 17) in Portola Valley.

The program, sponsored by the Portola Valley Cultural Arts Committee, begins at at 7 p.m. in the Historic Schoolhouse at the Town Center at 765 Portola Road.

The talk, titled “Making Sense of Silicon Valley,” will deal with stories he’s written during 40 years of covering technology news.

Preceding the talk, there will be wine and cheese and socializing at the Community Hall, also at the Town Center.
