Tuesday: Meeting on Alameda/Walsh traffic light

Should a traffic signal be installed on Alameda de las Pulgas at Walsh Road near Las Lomitas School?

A public meeting to get opinions on that topic will be held on Tuesday, March 6, at 6 p.m. in Las Lomitas School's Cano Hall, 299 Alameda de las Pulgas in Atherton.

An announcement of the meeting from the town of Atherton says the Las Lomitas Elementary School District wants "to improve the traffic conditions around the entrance to their campus."

The proposal includes moving the Las Lomitas school driveway to align with the signal, creating a four-way intersection.

A statement from the district says it is working on school campus safety improvements as part of the current construction program.

"A significant issue at the Las Lomitas Elementary School is student safety coming to and from school along the Alameda corridor," the statement from bond projects director Eric Holm says.

How about a signal at Atherton Av and the Alameda which is a full signal during morning and afternoon/evening rush hours and flashing red stop light at other hours.
