Woman was allegedly intoxicated when she sped away, struck a parked car before vehicle rolled over

An allegedly intoxicated woman died when she sped off in a car that crashed into a parked vehicle in East Palo Alto on March 28, according to police.

She was identified as 44-year-old Esther Diaz Sepulveda of Menlo Park, according to the San Mateo County Coroner's Office.

Around 7 p.m., a disturbance was reported in the 1200 block of Laurel Avenue, where a reportedly intoxicated woman was scratching on someone's vehicle and breaking car windows, police said.

The woman entered her SUV before officers reached the scene and sped away east on Laurel, where she struck a parked car, according to police. The impact of the crash caused her SUV to roll over and pinned her underneath the vehicle.

The woman was pronounced dead at the scene, police said.

Though the incident occurred last week, the department did not publicize it until today. The Palo Alto Weekly learned about the incident from the Chief's Community Update, which the department posted on April 4.

Menlo Park and Palo Alto police assisted East Palo Alto in the crash investigation. The South County Major Accident Investigation Team was also called in response to the crash.

East Palo Alto Police obviously tried to suppress this news in light of the Saudi's visit to the Four Season's hotel. This incident happened early last week - This driver crashed into 3 parked cars. From witnesses and neighbors - the accident was very gory and disturbing.
