Arraignment for extradited 2009 hit-and-run suspect postponed

The arraignment hearing scheduled for Shannon Steven Fox, who authorities say was the driver in a hit-and-run street racing accident that killed 6-year-old Menlo Park resident Lisa Xavier in 2009, has been postponed to Sept. 27.

Fox was extradited from Guatemala and booked into the San Mateo County jail last month on three felony charges: gross vehicular manslaughter, hit-and-run, and engaging in street racing that results in the death or injury of an individual. He faces up to 12 years in prison, according to San Mateo County District Attorney Steve Wagstaffe.

Fox remains in county custody on $3 million bail.
