Update: Jones, McLaughlin, Bernstein maintain strong lead in fire board race


Unofficial vote counts updated by the county at 4:30 p.m. today (Nov. 8) show that incumbents Robert Jones and Chuck Bernstein along with Jim McLaughlin are maintaining a strong lead in the contest for three open seats on the Menlo Park Fire Protection District governing board.

The latest unofficial results show Jones with 6,487 votes (33.9 percent), McLaughlin with 5,026 votes (26.3 percent), and incumbent Chuck Bernstein with 4,752 votes (25 percent). Sean Ballard has 2,862 votes (15 percent).

The fire district provides first-responder services for emergencies in Menlo Park, East Palo Alto, Atherton and nearby unincorporated areas.
