Four Bay Area counties have strongest labor markets in state


Four Bay Area counties have the strongest labor markets in the state, according to data released Friday by the California Employment Development Department. San Mateo County takes the top spot on that list.

After San Mateo County are San Francisco, Marin and Santa Clara counties, according to unemployment data.

The unemployment rate in San Mateo County was just 2.4% in March. Unemployment in San Francisco last month was 2.6%, and in Marin and Santa Clara counties unemployment was 2.7% and 2.9%.

In Solano County, the unemployment rate was the highest of any county in the region at 4.6%.
