'Women/Mujeres' art show this Saturday in downtown Menlo Park

In lieu of a Mother's Day celebration, Marcela Del Alcazar, who runs Marcela's Village Gallery at 883 Santa Cruz Ave. in downtown Menlo Park, is hosting an exhibit called "Women/Mujeres," which is curated to celebrate women of all types – sisters, aunts, women who have kids and women who don't have kids.

The show, which began May 1 and will run through the end of the month, features the work of four women, Lourdes Morante-Mieses, Miroslav Lopovech Friedman, Robin Scholl and Vienna Zhang, who range in age from teen to senior. It also includes works by two men, Fernando Escartiz and Arturo Garcia.

On Saturday, May 11, the gallery will host an event to celebrate women from 5 to 8 p.m. at which attendees will receive roses and champagne, according to Alcazar. Refreshments will be served.
