Menlo Park boxing gym owner arrested on suspicion of sexually assaulting teen girl

The owner of a boxing gym in Menlo Park has been arrested on suspicion of sexually assaulting a teenage girl he trained, according to a statement from the Menlo Park Police Department.

The suspect, a 37-year-old Redwood City resident, was arrested Tuesday, June 4, after a teenage girl told police earlier this week that the man, her personal trainer and owner of the Boxing Theory Gym on Constitution Drive in Menlo Park, had sexually assaulted her, according to police.

He was arrested on charges of oral copulation with a person under 16 years old, lewd and lascivious acts with a person who is 14 or 15 years old while being at least 10 years older than the minor, and sexual penetration with another person under 16 years old.

The police department is continuing the investigation and asks that anyone who has information about the case or about the suspect should contact Detective Sgt. Ed Soares at (650) 330-6360, Detective Joshua Russell at (650) 330-6819, or the anonymous tip line at (650) 330-6395.

Editor's note: It is The Almanac's policy to withhold the names of those arrested for most crimes until the District Attorney's Office has determined that there is sufficient evidence to file charges in the case.
