It’s the battle for Redwood City bragging rights. The Woodside and Sequoia football teams will both get up for this game, to be played Friday night at Sequoia’s Terremere Field at 7 p.m.

“We can pretend it’s just another game,” Woodside coach Justin Andrews said. “But it isn’t, and that makes it fun. The kids know each other real well. They talk trash directly and indirectly all year long.”

Sequoia (3-5, 2-1) is finishing the season with games against both of its rivals, Woodside and Carlmont.

“The San Carlos kids lean more towards Carlmont,” Sequoia coach Rob Poulos said. “The Redwood City kids more toward Woodside.”

Both teams are coming off wins, Sequoia 35-0 over El Camino and Woodside 30-8 over Mills.

For Sequoia, Jaymason Howard rushed for 193 yards and had 250 all-purpose yards against El Camino. Poulos lauded the play of the offensive line as the team had 334 yards rushing. Wilson Crum and safeties Isaia Tuimavave and Isaiah Barrett stood out on defense.

For Woodside (3-4, 2-1), lineman Jakob Jackson was a standout against Mills along with QB Ben Shepard.
