Two men armed with handguns held up three employees at the 76 gas station on Willow Road Monday night.

The men walked into the station, their faces covered, at about 8:20 p.m., Menlo Park police said. They took an undisclosed amount of money from the cash register and took one of the employees’ wallets, then sprinted to an SUV parked on O’Keefe Street, just south of the gas station. They headed east on O’Keefe, according to police.

There were no customers in the gas station when the men robbed it, and no one was harmed, police said.

Police are still looking for the men suspected in the robbery.

Witnesses described them to police as thin black men in their 20s. One man wore dark clothing and a red hat, with a red scarf covering his face. The other man wore black pants, a black hoodie, and a black hat, according to witnesses.

A witness described the SUV as “dark-colored.”

Police are asking anyone with information to call the main line at 330-6300, or the anonymous tip line at 330-6395.

  1. Thanks, Bruce. Directional descriptions often get confused in that area because of semantic considerations that you needn’t concern yourself with, having to do with the orientation of U.S. 101. For instance, police would say the suspects fled “south” on O’Keefe, though it’s almost due east. We altered the story to put it in line with cardinal directions. No hand-wringing necessary.
