Vice President Joe Biden was scheduled to be the guest of honor this afternoon (July 8) at a fundraiser in Atherton for California Sen. Barbara Boxer. The event was to begin at 4 p.m., with the vice president arriving in a motorcade that made its way up from Moffett Field.

The event was held at the home of Jill and John Freidenrich, with congresswomen Anna Eshoo, Jackie Speier, and Zoe Lofgren hosting.

Singer-songwriter Aimee Mann was scheduled to perform.

Sen. Boxer, a Democrat, is in a tight race with Peninsula resident and former Silicon Valley CEO Carly Fiorina to retain her seat in the Senate. Sen. Boxer attended another fundraiser yesterday in Palo Alto.

  1. How exciting!!! I was able to see all of the security around the home of this special event!!! How often do we have the Vice President in our area! Wish I could’ve been there… Gooooo Barbara BOXER:)

  2. It’s time for a change. The idea and hope for change was just a big dud. Since Ms. Boxer has aligned herself with the current administration and things have gotten “so much better”, it’s time for Harry, Nancy, and Barbara to exit stage left. We need real leaders not politicians.

  3. James –

And those “real leaders” would be who?

I see no one on the political scene who is even remotely impressive.

  4. And 280 was closed down in a progressive manner, using dozens of Highway Patrolmen, costing us a mint of money and inconvenience.

VIPs should either mingle with the masses or stay home.
