A report released Tuesday (Aug. 10) by AAA Northern California shows that gas prices in the Bay Area and across the country are once again inching up.

While the national average price for a gallon of regular unleaded gasoline is $2.78, up 7 cents from July, Bay Area drivers are paying an average price of $3.27 per gallon, up 5 cents from July.

Statewide, the average price for a gallon of regular is $3.18, up 4 cents from July and up 13 cents from this time last year, according to the report.

Drivers in San Francisco and Pleasanton are paying an average of $3.27 a gallon, while drivers in Oakland are paying an average of $3.25 per gallon. In Concord and San Jose, the average price is $3.19 and in San Mateo it is $3.26.

Overall, prices appear to be going up and down, which AAA attributes to uncertainty in the economy and forecasts for an active storm season, which influence how investors look at oil as a commodity to invest in, according to the report.
