The Atherton City Council will meet in a special session at 8 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 22, to appoint an interim city manager, who will oversee Town Hall operations until a permanent manager is hired next year.

Public comments will be taken when the meeting begins. The council will then meet in closed session, presumably to discuss the contract terms negotiated between John Danielson, former city manager of Elk Grove, and council subcommittee members Kathy McKeithen and Jim Dobbie.

On the agenda for 8:30 a.m., when the council is expected to conclude its closed session, is approval of an agreement with Mr. Danielson as interim manager.

The meeting will be held in the council chambers at 94 Ashfield Road, in the Atherton Town Center.

  1. I read he was fired from Elk Grove in 2006. The council should completely examine his past before offering a contract. At the very least extend the application period for city manager. What is with this council?!
