A mountain lion was spotted Sunday morning (April 17) in the hills above Interstate 280 in San Mateo County, emergency officials said.

The cat was seen by a newspaper delivery person at about 4:35 a.m. near the 100 block of Marva Oaks Drive in Woodside.

Residents are advised not to approach mountain lions, and to avoid hiking or jogging at dawn, dusk and night, when the animals are most active.

In the case of a mountain lion encounter, emergency officials advise residents to try to appear large and make noise.

  1. Why do my comments about hunting and eating the mountain lions keep getting deleted?
Mountain lion meat is a good substitute for pork and works in the same recipes.

When you find yourself “off the beaten track” in our of parks or neighborhoods, understand that you are in mountain lion territory and they are actually hunting you. I’m told you taste a lot like chicken.

  3. When was the last person in San Mateo County eaten in San Mateo County? I would think it would be too rich for the animal’s diet.
