Authorities have arrested a brother and sister in connection with a burglary with losses in excess of $100,000. The burglary is believed to have taken place sometime between November 2010 and April 2011 from a locked residential garage in the 1800 block of Portola Road in Woodside.

Detectives from the San Mateo County Sheriff’s Office arrested Cassandra Jane Chislett-Leitter, 19, and her brother Colin Chislett-Barnes, 23, at their Newark home on charges of grand theft, possession of stolen property and burglary, said Lt. Ray Lunny of the Sheriff’s Office.

Both suspects work for a family-run business, the Chislett Equestrian Centre, a rider training outfit at the Horse Park along Sand Hill Road, Lt. Lunny said.

A third suspect, Nathan Keith, was booked on the same charges but he is already in custody in the Alameda County Jail on unrelated charges, Lt. Lunny said.

The scene of the crime was a locked garage used to store antique rugs, carousel horses, a rocking horse and a saddle, Lt. Lunny said. Someone appears to have cut the lock on the roll-up garage door, he said.

When asked for a list of stolen goods, Lt. Lunny redirected the inquiry to the contents of the garage and declined to give specifics so as not to inform suspects not yet apprehended about what detectives know.

“Sorry, I can’t give you any more. This thing is popping,” he said. “We’re keeping it low for right now while the investigation is going on.”

Authorities are asking witnesses or anyone with information on the case to call Detective Ken Clayton at 780-7116, or the anonymous witness line at 800-547-2700.
