During World War I, Camp Fremont officials issued many rules about the off-time conduct of the thousands of young soldiers stationed in what is now downtown Menlo Park. One soldier is said to have spent 30 days in the guardhouse for accompanying a base hospital nurse to a movie at the Fremont Theatre. Photo courtesy Atherton Heritage Association.
