A motorcyclist killed in a crash in San Mateo on Sunday has been identified as 45-year-old Belmont resident John Stark, according to the Santa Clara County medical examiner’s office.

The collision occurred around 4:10 p.m. Sunday on northbound U.S. 101 just south of East Hillsdale Boulevard, according to the California Highway Patrol.

The motorcyclist was traveling north on a 2004 Suzuki when he was struck by a northbound 2006 Honda, CHP officials said. The motorcyclist lost control and was ejected onto the East Hillsdale Boulevard off-ramp.

He was taken to Stanford Hospital with major injuries, where he was pronounced dead.

Neither drugs nor alcohol appeared to be a factor in the collision, according to the CHP.
