A panel discussion called “Navigating the Tides of Adolescence,” will be held at Sacred Heart Prep on Monday, Sept. 14 from 7 to 9 p.m. in Harman Auditorium, 150 Valparaiso Avenue, Atherton.

The event is free and open to the public.

Panelists include former Stanford University freshman dean and author of “How to Raise an Adult” Julie Lythcott-Haims; Stanford School of Medicine child psychiatrist Steven Adelsheim; social media expert Yalda Uhls of Common Sense Media; and Gunn High School parent Kathleen Blanchard.

Panelists will talk about topics such as the impact and management of academic stress and social stigma; teen autonomy and decision making; peer pressure; social media; suicide prevention; and community resources to promote the mental wellness of San Mateo County youth.

The event is sponsored by Sacred Heart Schools and Star-Vista, a San Carlos nonprofit organization that provides counseling, skill development, and crisis prevention to children, youth, adults, and families.
