“Bully,” a 2012 documentary about bullying in U.S. schools by Sundance and Emmy-Award winning filmmaker Lee Hirsch, will be screened at the Hillview Middle School Performing Arts Center in Menlo Park at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 2.

The 98-minute screening will be followed by a question-and-answer session with Mr. Hirsch, a director and author. The event, sponsored by Facebook, is free. The film is rated R and parental discretion is advised.

The documentary, which follows the lives of five students who face bullying on a daily basis, inspired the BULLY project, a social action campaign against bullying.

Bullying is the most common form of violence, affecting hundreds of Menlo Park children, adolescents and adults annually, according to a recent proclamation read by Menlo Park Mayor Catherine Carlton.

Hillview school is at 1100 Elder Ave. in Menlo Park.
