Guess which Menlo Park park matches this clue?
“Formerly known as the ‘Amigos’ (Spanish for ‘Friends’) Park, this park is now named after a Menlo Park police officer who was killed while on duty in 1960. This is a park where many children and their ‘amigos’ can enjoy playing in the field and playground.”
If you think you know the answer, a countywide campaign called “Passport to Parks” is encouraging you to walk, bike, scooter, or otherwise meander with your family to pick up the next clue, located on one of the park’s signs (pictured right).
It’s part of a yearlong effort by the County of San Mateo Health System, the Menlo Park Parks and Recreation department, and the Active Access Collaborative to get locals out and about while learning more about nearby parks. The program will run until April 2016.
There are three clues located around the parks of Menlo Park, and at the final stop, there is a QR code that can be scanned with a smart phone that opens up an electronic survey (a paper version of the survey is also available.) Participants can then enter a quarterly drawing to win a prize.
