People who are looking for an outdoor volunteer opportunity can pitch in at a cleanup day at the San Francisquito Creek from 9 a.m. to noon Saturday, Sept. 17.
The event will be held in recognition of “Coastal and Bay Cleanup Day,” a California-wide volunteer effort to clean up local waterways.
Go to the San Mateo County website to see other volunteer options.
Sign up online and meet at 9 a.m. at the Alma Rain Garden, located at 1 Alma St. in Menlo Park.
Participants should bring outdoor work clothes, work gloves, a bucket and a reusable water bottle. They will be asked to sign a waiver. Minors should have an adult present to sign them in and supervise, if necessary.
The event will be hosted by the city of Menlo Park and Grassroots Ecology, a nonprofit based in Palo Alto, previously part of Acterra, that does environmental education and nature conservation work.
