Eleanor Stitt Andrews passed away on August 8, 2019. She was an amazing, vibrant person and was the queen of any occasion. She led a full and rich life. Eleanor was born in San Francisco, California, on July 21, 1925, to Alexander William and Edith Hoyland Stitt. She grew up in the San Mateo Park area with her brother Douglas and sister Geraldine “Cookie”. Eleanor attended Hamlin School in San Francisco and graduated from San Mateo High School in 1943. Eleanor attended the University of California Berkeley to study Journalism and was a member of the Alpha Delta Pi sorority. She spent her younger adult years in San Francisco working at Matson Lines. She met Benjamin Andrews while skiing with friends at Sugar Bowl in the Lake Tahoe area, and married in 1962 . They moved to Menlo Park, CA, and their only child Benjamin (Jamie) Andrews was born in 1966. They both remained in their home in Menlo Park for the rest of their lives. Eleanor and Ben later had a vacation home in Lake Tahoe that they enjoyed for 18 years. Eleanor spent her time working at Sunset Magazine, volunteering for several charities and maintained an active social life until her final days. Eleanor loved to entertain, and hosted social occasions for family and friends whenever possible. She loved traveling, having sailed to Tahiti and Australia with Matson lines. She often accompanied Ben on business trips or rendezvousing with friends in exotic locations, France being a particular favorite . She was a lifelong sports fan, particularly the San Francisco 49’ers. She maintained a lifelong relationship with her sorority sisters from Cal Berkeley and the Marin County Alpha Delta Pi chapter. She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband Benjamin V. Andrews II, and her brother Douglas Stitt. She is survived by her sister, Geraldine "Cookie" Wallin, her nieces Pamela Jean (PJ) Larson and Julie Wallin, her great nephews Peter Larson (Wendy Hsiao Larson and daughter Teagan Larson) and Shelby Lang (Khristine Valladolid) and son Benjamin V. (Jamie) Andrews III. She had recently celebrated her 94th birthday and had been living at home with family.
