Briefs: Three-car accident snarls Menlo traffic

A Honda Accord apparently collided with a Ford truck and Jeep Grand Cherokee around 2:30 p.m on May 8 in the eastbound lanes of the Bayfront Expressway near Chilco Street, according to preliminary reports from Menlo Park police officers investigating the accident.

The 22-year-old male driver of the Honda and a woman riding in the jeep were taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, police said. The 52-year-old driver of the third vehicle was not hurt.

Traffic through the accident zone was delayed for about an hour.

Black holes, galaxies

It turns out that, like everything else, black holes and galaxies go through love-hate relationships. SLAC astrophysicist Silvia Bonoli "will describe the torrid relationship of black holes and galaxies as each shapes the life of the other" during a free lecture at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, May 21, in SLAC's Panofsky Auditorium at 2575 Sand Hill Road in Menlo Park.
