A special feature this year will be "Reimagining the Sunset Home." Five young designers will create trendsetting spaces in a 4,000 square-foot home exhibit.
Thirteen chefs will present more than 20 seminars on two stages. Fabio Viviani of Bravo's Top Chef will prepare fresh egg pasta and "lazy meatballs" on Saturday and Sunday. Restaurateur Susan Feniger of Food Network's "Too Hot Tamales" will whip up Malaysian black pepper clams and Burmese melon salad.
Wine Seminars sell out early, so visitors should register when they arrive. Wine editor Sara Schneider will take a journey through the Santa Cruz, Washington and Lodi wine regions. Cost per seminar is $15 per person. There also will be a seminar on western craft beers.
Garden and outdoor living. From aquaponics to "the new citrus" and designing succulents, Sunset has dedicated two days of programs to the garden. Visitors can stroll the test garden, where editors display favorite plants, projects, garden gadgets, even their own chickens.
Home stage. Designing an outdoor space for entertaining and how to make the most of a small space are among topics to be discussed on the home stage.
Travel stage. Travel experts will show new ways to travel in style and comfort, and how to discover the best wine while on the road, take great photos on a smart phone, and prepare satisfying campsite recipes.
Sunset Celebration Weekend takes place from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and Sunday, June 1 and 2, at Sunset headquarters, 80 Willow Road, in Menlo Park. Tickets are $18 for general admission and $15 for seniors 60 and over.
