Today, district residents pay the highest parcel taxes on the entire Peninsula. No other district has so many parcel taxes in such a high amount. Almost no other districts have permanent parcel taxes.
Among mid-size school districts, Menlo Park's already spends the third-highest per pupil in all of California! Yet, Measures A and C will eventually double your parcel taxes to fund more spending. This is one category we don't want our school district be No. 1 in.
Since 2000, the district asked us for six parcel taxes/bonds. We willingly approved all of them. Now, the district wants two more. Send a message demanding more fiscal restraint and accountability.
We all want great schools, but enough is enough. The district is pushing the community beyond what is reasonable. If we don't push back now, don't be surprised when another parcel tax is proposed after the new money is spent. Tell the school board to live within its means. Vote NO on Measures A and C!
