On Feb. 26, the woman was in her home on Valparaiso Avenue when she saw a man walk by the side of the house, the DA said. When she heard scratching noises, she locked herself in a room and called 911.
Police arrived within a minute and found a hole in the wood panel next to the sliding glass door. They apprehended Mr. Jimenez-Pimental in the master bedroom with $5,000 worth of her jewelry, a small amount of methamphetamine, a drug pipe and burglar tools, the DA said.
He resisted arrest and a dog from the Sheriff's Office was used to bring him under control, prosecutors said.
Mr. Jimenez-Pimental, who has a 2013 conviction for felony drunken driving, is in custody on $100,000 bail, the DA said.
