Thinking of running for office?

For locals considering running for elective office, here are a few dates worth marking.

• Monday, July 16, to Friday, August 10: Prospective candidates must file paperwork, including nomination papers and declarations of candidacy.

•Thursday, July 26: The San Mateo County Elections Division will host a candidate seminar starting at 2 p.m. at 40 Tower Road in San Mateo, followed immediately by a voter data seminar at 3:30 p.m.

• Thursday, Aug. 16: The Secretary of State and county elections offices will hold a randomized drawing to determine which names will appear first and which letters will be assigned to measures on the upcoming November ballot.
