Atherton declares 'state of emergency,' canceling events, scaling back meetings

Atherton City Manager George Rodericks declared a state of emergency in response to the growing spread of the novel coronavirus, known as COVID-19, across the Bay Area, according to a message to town residents on March 13. The World Health Organization (WHO) declared the outbreak of the respiratory illness a pandemic on March 11.
