Man arrested after girlfriend stabbed in Menlo Park
A 34-year-old Pleasanton man was arrested July 3 after he allegedly stabbed his girlfriend multiple times during a family baby shower at Flood Park in Menlo Park, according to the San Mateo County District Attorney's Office.
The man, identified as Fernando Pedrazamunguia, was at the baby shower with the victim, his girlfriend, around 7:45 p.m. when an argument broke out between the two. The victim slapped Pedrazamunguia, then he took out a knife and stabbed her four times while yelling that he was going to kill her, according to the district attorney's office.
Three or four people attending the event reportedly tackled Pedrazamunguia and held him down until police arrived. He reportedly lunged at the victim while he was led into a police vehicle.
The victim suffered stab wounds to her chest, wrist, flank and back, and was transported to Stanford Hospital with injuries that were not life threatening.
The district attorney's office said Pedrazamunguia told police he believed his girlfriend was unfaithful to him, and that he took out his knife to "calm her down."
Pedrazamunguia was arraigned on charges of attempted murder and corporal injury to a spouse, and has a plea hearing scheduled for July 12. He remains in custody at San Mateo County jail without bail.
