You may have heard about a new state law affecting kindergarten registration. That law goes into effect in 2012, said Carol Metzler, executive assistant to the superintendent in the Menlo Park district.
Under that law, for the 2012-13 school year, students must be 5 by Nov. 2, 2012, to register for kindergarten. For the 2013-14 school year, they must be 5 by Oct. 2, 2013. And then for the 2014-15 school year and future years, they must be 5 by Sept. 2, 2014.
