M-A athlete Alex Aguiar honored

Alex Aguiar, a senior and a baseball and basketball player at Menlo-Atherton High School, is one of 10 high school student athletes from the Bay Area and Sacramento recently awarded $2,000 scholarships as part of the Positive Coaching Alliance's Triple-Impact Competitor scholarship program.

The scholarships recognize the athletes efforts to better themselves and their teams, according to the the Positive Coaching Alliance, a sponsor of the program along with the accounting firm Deloitte LLP and the Thrive Foundation for Youth, based in Menlo Park.

Alliance founder Jim Thompson noted that the scholarship winners "are the types of student-athletes who will remain leaders throughout their lives and have the potential to greatly impact our society."
