Recycling center closes

Original post made by Rory Brown, Almanac staff writer, on Dec 14, 2006

The bottle and can recycling redemption center, located for many years in the Safeway parking lot on El Camino Real, has closed due to construction at the site. Anyone wanting to redeem beverage bottles and cans for cash refund can take them to the recycling redemption center outside Chavez Market, located at El Camino Real and Fifth Street in Redwood City. Redemption values (CRV) will increase on January 1, 2007 to five cents each for beverage bottles and cans under 24 ounces and to ten cents each for beverage bottles and cans 24 ounces and over. For more information, call 1-800-RECYCLE or visit www.bottlesandcans.com.
