APRIL DANCE CONCERT IN WOODSIDE: Dancing Feet from Around the World

The Red Thistle Dancers will be presenting an exciting multi-ethnic concert on April 21st at 8 p.m. and April 22nd at 2:30 p.m. at the Performance Arts Center in Woodside High School , Woodside.
With their colorful costumes and their rousing music, these dynamic artists will provide foot stomping fun for everyone. There will be:
*Elegant strathspeys and high energy reels and jigs with the RED THISTLE DANCERS ( Scotland )

* Exuberant Appalachian step dancing with the BARBARY COAST CLOGGERS (U.S.)
* Rip roaring drumming as well as graceful folk dancing from GEN TAIKO ( Japan )
* Exotic belly dancing with ELIZABETH STRONG ( Turkey )
* Soulful and fluid tango from HUNG-YUT CHEN & HWAYI—Saturday only ( Argentina )
* ROMINA & MARCELO—Sunday only ( Argentina )


Both the Barbary Coast Cloggers and the Red Thistle Dancers have been guest artists at the San Francisco Ethnic Dance Festival and at international festivals all over the world. Gen Taiko has performed at festivals and concerts at the San Francisco Palace of Fine Arts, Yerba Buena Center as well as the Japanese Cultural and Community Center of Northern California . In addition to teaching and performing in the Bay Area and abroad, Elizabeth Strong is a member of Le Cancan Bijou dance Troupe and Mad Sal’s Music Hall Revue at the Dickens Faire. Marcelo Solis and Romina Hahn, dancers, choreographers and teachers from Argentina , have performed in different tango communities, including Portland , Chicago , and Buenos Aires . Hung-Yut Chen and his partner won first prize at USA Tango 2002. Together with Hwayi, he currently teaches tango classes in the Bay Area. Hwayi also teaches in Seoul , S. Korea.

Dancing Feet will be presented twice at the Performing Arts Center at Woodside High School ,199 Churchill Ave, Woodside on
Saturday April 21st at 8:000 p.m. and Sunday April 22nd at2:30 p.m.
Buy tickets at www.redthistledancers.org: $20 general admission, $15 for seniors and groups of 10 or more, $10 for students and juniors 14 and under.
Refreshments will be available and the groups will have merchandise for sale.
There is plenty of free parking, including ample handicapped parking and seating.
