Original post made by Rick Vujovich, Menlo-Atherton High School, on Apr 19, 2007

After returning from Spring Break, M- A Varsity Softball came on strong with a 5-0 shut out of Menlo School. M-A improved their league record to 3 wins and 2 losses and 8-7 record overall.

Setting the pace was freshman pitcher Tami Vujovich who pitched a 7 inning shut out. She allowed only 2 hits on her way to setting a new school record of 15 strikeouts. She and catcher Olivia Vagelos made short work of the 27 batters faced by the Bears.

The M-A Bears were led offensively by Olivia Vagelos and Chelsea Mongird - each with 2 hits. Ellen Knapp contributed with a triple and Tami Vujovich drove in 2 runs with a bases clearing double in the 5th inning. This came after a clutch single by Sarah Black drove in the first run of the game.

The Bears added to their lead in the 6th with hits by Tiffany Kung, Demi Battaglia, Olivia Vagelos and Chelsea Mongird.

Menlo only threatened once in the 4th when they had the bases loaded, but Vujovich came back to strike out the side.

M-A's next game is Friday at Terra Nova in Pacifica at 3:15 .
