M-A Bears and M-A parents dominated the tournament. While 1st Place Gross went to a team that included SHP’s Wes Payne and St. Francis’s Bryon Walsh, 2nd Place Gross was won by the team of
M-A parent Eric Gananaian and M-A’s own senior golfers Greg Sako, Jamie Walsh, and Elliot Hume. 1st Place Net went to the team of
M-A’s Nick Sako, Brian Jordan, Alex Amato, and M-A Parent Fred Stanske. 2nd Place Net went to a co-ed team led by M-A parent Jane Hall. Sophomore Nick Sako defended his Individual Low Gross title by posting a 6 under par 66 for the day. Elliot Hume took Longest Drive and M-A’s Peter Gruber won Closest to the Pin. Tournament director and team parent Norm Hall did an outstanding job for the third straight year in making this a profitable and very well run event, in which everyone had a terrific time!
Coach Buff Giurlani was eager to point out that had the M-A Varsity Boys been competing in a team event, their team score would have been an impressive 374. Greg Sako and Jake Hall Toy each shot 76, Nick Sako 66, Jamie Walsh 82, and Elliot Hume 74. The M-A Varsity Golf Team has won the PAL Championship and heads into Individual PAL Playoffs this week at Poplar Creek, Shoreline, and Crystal Springs Golf Courses. CCS competition begins on Monday, May 7 at Rancho Canada.
