The driver of the truck claimed that his brakes failed. It is unknown if the truck was being used in the sewer project. Looking at the picture of the truck, the driver should count himself very lucky not to be more seriously hurt. I bet he was wearing his seatbelt.

Dave Boyce of the Almanac was at the scene and he'll have a story in the next issue. The dump truck driver apparently lost his breaks on Ramona Road on Thursday morning, taking out a parked and unoccupied pickup truck and SUV, knocking them down the hill off the road. The dump truck descended down the hill, a steep drop of a few hundred feet. The truck driver walked out of the truck, but was taken to the hospital.
The drop was so steep that the recovery crews had to rappel down.
The dump truck had two 48-gallon diesel tanks, one split open and empty, and the other leaking. Hazmat people were called.

Why wait until next issue? I am sure this is more interesting than 'Exploring Stevens Creek headwaters'. Isn't the point of a newspaper having a Web site to get information out BEFORE the next issue?
