Wow, near head on accident on Sand Hill!

Original post made by Terrified!, Woodside: Kings Mountain/Skyline, on Sep 24, 2007

Today around 4pm I was driving west on Sand Hill following a white thunderbird with a "Veterans for Bush" sign in the rear window as we approached Whiskey Gulch Road. I couldn't believe it as I saw the driver cross the center stripe of Sand Hill with all 4 wheels and veer directly into oncoming traffic. He missed causing a head on by a matter of perhaps half a second or so before he screeched the wheel back to the right.

I have seen a number of close calls before but never any that was as close and scary as this one. If you happen to be innocent guy going East, please let me know if you want this jerk's license plate number; I will certainly back you up if you want to try to take some formal action. I got somewhat of a look at the guy as he proceeded up Portola to 84 towards Skyline.

scary, scary, scary.

Please report that person to the police anyway!!! The Eastbound guy might not even know about this website to read your comment.

Reporting the thunderbird will make a difference. Please!

Here is a link to Palo Alto's online reporting page:

Web Link

You can put a checkmark next to "traffic" and fill out a simple form if you don't want to call them directly.

I'm sure this one belongs to the San Mateo County Sheriff since they handle things out here (btw, accidently wrote Whiskey Gulch when I meant Whiskey Hill).

I'll try calling the sheriff, but my experience is that police have not been too responsive in a situation like this (especially w/o a victim).

I was just hoping that somebody that reads this might here somebody telling the story around the water cooler because I guarantee you that person had reason to be scared....
