Scheduling Council Meetings

Original post made by Columbo, Atherton: other, on Mar 28, 2010

A closed session council meeting for John Johns' litigation was announced Saturday for this Monday. I imagine all council members will show up. Let's see.

An open session council meeting for Charles Marsala's transgressions was announced Wednesday (or Thursday, depending on your point of view; but to be fair, I assume the council members themselves at least knew about it on Wednesday). Only two showed up.

Hmmmm.....

When will this Marsala meeting be rescheduled for?

Meant to say announced Wednesday for Friday. The John Johns issue is a problem they want to deal with. Marsala is a problem they don't want to deal with.

Carlson, Lewis and Marsala have contrived to wrap up the John Johns issue before the Marsala problem can be dealt with-- precisely because all three of these councilmen are fully responsible for what happened to the finance director, and also responsible to the residents for all the time and money spent persecuting Johns to the ends of the earth.
Had the Johns issue gone to trial-all three of them would have been fully exposed.
With an airtight settlement agreement from Johns-- all three of them hope and pray, to avoid culpability in Athertons all time dumbest, most expensive, and entirely invented controversy ever.
If "you follow the money" on this mystery--you will have no problem figuring out how the towns financial condition went south so fast-or who to blame.

It seems to me, in my opinion, that such events as occurred with Mr. Johns are predictable in their conclusion.

That being the case, the powers that controlled this situation regarded the price that would be paid to Mr. Johns to be far less than the loss at risk in the alternative. This should be an obvious and chilling thought to the discerning minds among you.

I leave the conclusions of this line of thought to those able to complete it.

Mr. Carlson has always been the enigma in this balance of decision making through the history of these events.

Never focused upon, he has chosen to be the determining vote in various situations, without any discernible ideology or ethical framework, first on one side, then on the other.

Perhaps, the truth is that we all find our gratifications in individual ways.

Yep-The Enigma
He new perfectly well, from the beginning and all along, that Johns was completely innocent.
I think he was unable to trust even his own opinion and so just acquiesced.
The betrayal was so unexpected and bewildering and the hardest of all to ever fathom.

So was this simply just passive aggression? or an expression of some kind of projected self hatred?
So indulgent, so destructive, so very sad.
And far too expensive.

Marsla is a tempting target indeed.

It would be very easy to focus all of our anger and attention upon Marsla and let the other scoundrels off the hook by doing so.

[portion removed.] However, at least with Marsala, you knew where he stood. He came after Johns with both barrels blazing from the day Protzman had him escorted out of his office.

Carlson on the other hand refused to sign a letter in support of Johns that each and every other member of the audit committee who was present on at the September 7th audit committee signed.

Carlson stood back and held his nose. While the whole ugly affair played out, when he had the power to put a stop to Mr. Johns lynching.

Jerry Carlson called for an audit of the building department, the audit that proved to be Johns' undoing. Jerry Carlson had lunch on numerous occasions with Johns in 2006 and 2007 seeking advice from Johns about what to do over the scandals brewing in the police deparment and the building department.

Jerry Carlson even asked privately for Johns' advice on whether or not to dump Jim Robinson, the former City Manager.

Jerry Carlson is just as culpable as is Charles Marsala.

When next November comes, don't forget the Johns debacle. Don't forget Jerry Carlson's silent complicity in the matter.

Vote for anybody but Jerry Carlson next November.

I hope that the John Johns matter has been finally and fairly settled - we will soon know.

My biggest concern is that I do not think that the Council has the wisdom or the skill to fairly and adequately address ALL of the allegations which have been made against a number of the Council members.

I hope that they realize this and ask someone like the Attorney General to step in and do a comprehensive review of all of these allegations.
