  1. What is “West Menlo Park”?

I have lived in Menlo Park over ten years, and I have started noticing the “West” delimiter being used occasionally only within the last year.

As far as I can tell, there is no legal entity of West Menlo Park.

Am I mistaken? Is there some effort afoot to divide Menlo Park?

  2. I believe West Menlo and West Atherton describes West of El Camino. Been here since 1957 and that’s always been the case as I recall.

  3. Almanac Reader, your confusion is understandable. The county refers to the unincorporated areas of Menlo Park north and east of Sharon Heights and, roughly, west of Lemon Avenue, as West Menlo Park. When you see items in the Police Calls column under the heading West Menlo Park, they are from Sheriff’s Office reports.
