Alamnac I find myself looking at the blogs less & less

Original post made by Colleen Anderson, Atherton: West Atherton, on Oct 20, 2010

Dear Almanac,
It is only because of all the bashing I find myself looking at the blogs less & less. It's sad because I am always hoping to find informative information on the Almanac blogs. I am finding the information I am getting from the blogs isn't worth the things I have to read to get to the pertinent information. You are losing interested people because bashing.

peter carpenter is a registered user.

I agree and have decided to start all my new topics by restricting them to registered users only. My review of the 'trashing' posting is that 99% of them come from a very few anonymous unregistered users. If those individuals were forced to register in order to post comments then most of them would not register and those who did register could be directly monitored by the editor.

I, on the other hand, find those like Mr. Carpenter and a few others, given preferential treatment as to what is "Politically Correct for the PENINUSULA ONLY" way too obvious.
The "bashing" is mostly those who do not agree with these "experts".
ALL of my respect for Mr. Carpenter is in the toilet.
YOUNG BLOOD IS NEEDED.

R.Gordon and his/her postings provide the perfect example of why restricting postings to registered users would be a significant improvement in the quality of the Town Forum.

I say this not because of his/her attacks on me and others but because of the absence of substance in his/her postings.

...and I agree with Mr Gordon, and somewhat with Ms Anderson.

Postings that are restricted are near useless, lack diversity and interest.

They are inherently smaller samples and not worth the click. Just a couple of older, self involved, tricycling wannabes that want their own private corner. Let them have it. Restricted forums always die a slow death anyway.

The larger world is always far more interesting than a gated community. Look at the crowd at the Giants games. Can you imagine Petey surrounded by a bunch of drunk youth in Panda caps? Or in the middle of the rainbow section listening to the SF Gay Mens Chorus sing God Bless America in the seventh?

Those that live restricted lives, live and post in restricted places. Let me live with the great unwashed masses.

Gigantes!!!!

God bless America.

let that read:

"Viva Gigantes!!!"

(Even though the obvious lack of diversity on the team was reflected by the comment about the 2002 astros in this morning's fishwrap.)

Panda - I cherish and respect and enjoy and participate in diversity. I detest anonymous people who attack others or spout hate. If the anonymous posters on this Forum showed the same respect for others that even the most diverse crowd does in a public setting, where they are identifiable and accountable, then there would be no problem.

Let diversity reign and let courtesy prevail.

"Let diversity reign and let courtesy prevail."

but you'll stay hidden behind your walls, nonetheless

it's the internet

it's a beautiful world

courtesy is cool, but your wall won't protect you from lack thereof, why would you even try? we've seen your reponses to those you deem your lessors, you belittle their grammar, you've had portions removed, too

so, ride on...

out

Interesting comment from someone that feels cameras at town hall are an invasion of privacy. I've read plenty of unpleasant and unkind remarks from the registered users that ultimately are removed by The Almanac so that doesn't necessarily stop the problem.

Mr. Carpenter:

Mr. Gordon IS a registered user. His posts are so "out there" that I rarely respond to them. You should do the same. If we ignore him perhaps he will go away.

doesn't it stink when you go to all that trouble of a gated community

and you find out you fenced IN those you wanted out?

poor, ol' yeller...

** 5 hours till 1st pitch **

out (really, this time!)

Panda - one of the tragedies of an anonymous community is that you have NO idea who I am, what my values are, or the richness of the many diverse communities that I belong to and to which I contribute and from which I gain so much.

R.Gordon (who I prefer to call R) is familiar with the word "foppish" and can use it in a grammatically correct sentence, so he/she should know better than to abuse his/her education by venturing off into whatever never-never land he lives in without also being funny.

R. - Your posts have the potential to be funny. You need to dump the irrational anger.

Don't know about Panda or yellow trike or whomever, but Peter is correct:

"...you have NO idea who I am, what my values are..."

After reading many of your posts, Peter, I agree. I have no idea what your values are.

anonymouse states:""...you have NO idea who I am, what my values are..."

After reading many of your posts, Peter, I agree. I have no idea what your values are."

And how sad that you don't know me and I don't know you - but then how can one know any anonymous person?
