Gov Romney explains how he differs from George W Bush

Original post made by Wally, Portola Valley: Westridge, on Oct 17, 2012

A question asked many times and never answered in the popular forum "Can anyone tell me: why Mitt Romney?" (3199 views, 127 comments) was "can you tell us the differences between Romney and Bush?". Actually, after being met with stony silence from Romney supporters, it morphed into the mocking request: "I'd love to read your ten point list of the VAST differences between Bush and Romney." Web Link

Silence.

Arguably the most important question in the election:

How is Gov Mitt Romney different from the father of the Bush Great Recession?

Mitt Romney, thus far in the race, has been unable to answer how he is different from Bush/Cheney. When asked months ago, he blew off the question, and went back to hiring more of the Bush/Cheney team for his campaign, including the former Bush chief of staff as Mitt's head of his 'transition team'.

But last night, Mitt was asked "What is the biggest difference between you and George W. Bush, and how do you differentiate yourself from George W. Bush?"

Did Mitt bail out the Romney supporters on this forum and outline the clear differences between Romney and Bush? No. Because even Mitt knows there ARE NO SIGNIFICANT DIFFERENCES BETWEEN ROMNEY AND BUSH.

Mitt Romney spent the first half of his two minutes allotted by filibustering, about debate rules and time keeping. "I just want to make sure that, I think I was supposed to get that last answer, but I want to point out that that I don’t believe… … I don’t believe… The time – the time…" blah blah filibuster blah avoid the question blah run out the clock blah blah...

Then Romney continues to avoid the 'Romney = Bush' question, returns to the previous question and flipflops (again) and changes his position on his previous support of the Blount amendment giving bureaucrats the ability to inject themselves into a family's healthcare and family planning decisions: "I’d just note that I don’t believe that bureaucrats in Washington should tell someone whether they can use contraceptives or not. And I don’t believe employers should tell someone whether they could have contraceptive care of not."

Finally, after all that avoidance and treating viewers to another gratuitous flipflop, Romney gets to the heart of the election and outlines the VAST DIFFERENCES between Romney/Ryan and Bush/Cheney.

Except he doesn't.

He mumbles something about how he is better for oil and coal companies than Bush. Yep. That's the first thing our of his mouth about the differences between Romney/Ryan and Bush/Cheney. Energy issues. Because we all know the Bush Great Recession was caused by Bush/Cheney's energy policy! Seriously, Mitt? I have to post his exact words, because folks who didn't see it won't believe what happened: "President Bush and I are – are different people and these are different times and that’s why my five point plan is so different than what he would have done. I mean for instance, we can now, by virtue of new technology actually get all the energy we need in North America..." blah blah blah

Romney > Bush, because of energy policies! Who knew?!?!!

Romney then rambles on about his stump rhetoric about somehow cracking down on China. Then Romney claims he will somehow (using magic math that gives a $5 trillion tax cut along with increased Pentagon spending by $2 trillion) miraculously balance the budget.

Then Romney moans about "championing small business" and throws in an Obamacare reference for good measure.

That, folks, is how Mitt Romney, the man himself, explained to all of America how he differs from George W Bush.

There is no difference between Mitt Romney and George W Bush.

Mitt Romney = George Bush

According to none other than Mitt Romney.

Romney/Ryan = Bush/Cheney

America cannot afford another Bush. We are still digging out from Bush, having created 5 million new jobs in the last 31 months. Can anyone answer the question better than Mitt Romney?

"What is the biggest difference between (Romney) and George W. Bush, and how do you differentiate (Romney) from George W. Bush?"

President Obama's response to the question: "What is the biggest difference between (Romney) and George W. Bush, and how do you differentiate (Romney) from George W. Bush?" Web Link

Obama lambasts Giov Romney on his China Rhetoric, energy and the rest of Romney 5 point plan, then continues:

"But the last point I want to make is this. You know, there are some things where Governor Romney is different from George Bush. George Bush didn't propose turning Medicare into a voucher. George Bush embraced comprehensive immigration reform. He didn't call for self-deportation.

George Bush never suggested that we eliminate funding for Planned Parenthood, so there are differences between Governor Romney and George Bush, but they're not on economic policy. In some ways, he's gone to a more extreme place when it comes to social policy. And I think that's a mistake. That's not how we're going to move our economy forward."

Incredible that they didn't train rmoney to have a better answer to that one. At least he didn't lie like he did abou libya. Romney looked angry all night like he wanted to slug obama. Would have been interesting to see his guards come tackle rmoney and cart him off. Very angry dude when he doesn't get his way. But he has binders of women willling to work flexible hours for him at 75 cents on the dollar.

After his utter fail last night to differentiate from the Bush/Cheney team last night, the Romney campaign sends mini-Mitt, er, Paul Ryan, out today with Condi Rice.

what the ??????

Condi (Aug 6 PDB) Rice? Of "smoking gun in the form of a mushroom cloud" fame?!?!? What, Rumsfeld wasn't available to join them?!?

Tone deaf.

Next up? The foreign policy debate. Where Romney can tell us what his panel of special foreign policy advisers tell him.

17 of those 24 advisers served with Bush/Cheney.

Romney/Ryan = Bush/Cheney

Useful binder review from Amazon for the Avery Durable View Binder with 2 Inch EZ-Turn Ring

"As a woman, I'm not adept at making decisions that concern me. So when I need the right choice, I turn to the presidential candidate that KNOWS. One with prideful experience in this department. I don't want to be filed away in an inferior & confusing electronic doohickey that I couldn't possibly understand. Or heaven forbid, have a man ask for & listen to my ideas! I'd much rather rely on this top of the line, 1980s style, Avery Durable binder. It's the choice America can trust. My education, my ideas, my opinions, my choices, please PLEASE keep them safely stored away here and far away from the men that might fear them (I mean, want to use them to hire me somedaynever). I'd write more about this most useful product, but it's time I hurry home to make dinner."

Now that the important issues are out of the way, did Romney ever tell us whether I should make the same as a man?

You will soon find out the differences between Mitt Romney and George Bush when Governor Romney gets elected president of the United States on November 6. But more importantly you will see the differences between Mitt Romney and Barack Obama. And these differences will put our country back on the road to recovery.

Obama had great desire but his Western European Socialist model did not quite work out - much to the dismay of the Kepler's crowd. Now we are going back to the Capitalist Model that has served this country well for over 2 centuries. It won't be easy pulling this country out of the Obama induced Keynesian Coma but come this time in 2016 President Romney will be sailing to an easy re-election.

So-called "Menlo Moderate" can't answer the basic question either. "What is the biggest difference between (Romney) and George W. Bush, and how do you differentiate (Romney) from George W. Bush?"

There are no differences: Romney/Ryan = Bush/Cheney

Menlo "moderate" likes the thought of a return to Bush/Cheney. Menlo "moderate" sees 4.5 million new jobs created in the last 31 months, the start of the recovery from the Bush Great Recession, as some sort of socialism.

America cannot afford a return to Bush/Cheney policies via the 1 term failure that is Gov Romney. Romney has been elected only once and failed so badly, he couldn't get a 2nd term as the incumbent. In fact, the only voters to EVER ELECT Romney to anything are rejecting Romney this election by a 2-1 margin!

Those that know Romney best are REJECTING Romney this election by a 2-1 margin Web Link

"What is the biggest difference between (Romney) and George W. Bush, and how do you differentiate (Romney) from George W. Bush?"

Even Menlo "moderate" knows, much as Romney himself admitted, there are no differences between Romney and Bush.

The liberals are using one of the oldest tricks in the book--and that is to divert attention away from Obama's miserable record. Mitt Romney is not like George Bush any more than Barack Obama is like Karl Marx; although Obama and Marx have far more in common than Romney and Bush.

All Obama has done is dig us into a 16 Trillion hole. He is spending at a rate of two and one half times as much as George Bush. On October 1 the national debt was 16.073 Trillion dollars. Today the national debt is 16.188 Trillion dollars. Obama has increased the national debt by 115 Billion dollars in just 18 days. This is 6.389 Billion dollars a day. Annualized this is a 2 Trillion 332 Billion dollar deficit for GFY 2013. And we were complaining about annual One Trillion dollar deficits. Obama has elevated this to 2 1/3 Trillion dollar annual deficits. There is no end to this man's rapacious demands for spending. This is unsustainable as well as Obama's campaign. And in Obam's own woprds "downright unpatriotic"

The liberals are desperate and are on the ropes. They can feel this election slipping away and there is not anything they can do about it.
Romney's recent resurgence is due to two factors:

1) The debates, and
2) Obama's egregious lies about Romney in DNC commercials.

Obama might have well gotten away with his lies if it weren't for the debates. The debates showed Romney to be a very reasonable, caring person with a proven track record of success. This is in direct contrast with the lies the Obama campaign has been spreading about Romney.

Now the Obama campaign is desperately hoping that the electorate will believe them over the voters' "Lying eyes". Nice try but that won't work. Obama has been exposed for his fraud and this is fresh in the voters' minds.

Now Obama has been revealed not only as an incompetent socialist; but a liar as well. There is no question that Romney will win this election. But not to worry. Obama can have a soft landing by becoming Rahm Emmanuel's Chief of Staff.

Common sense is just another fringe rightie that can't answer the most important question! Amazing how the fringe right RUN AWAY from the question that Romney couldn't answer either! How is Romney different from Bush?!?!?!?

> Mitt Romney is not like George Bush

Ha!

Prove it! Romney wants tax cuts for the wealthy, wants to voucherize Medicare, privatize Social Security, repeal Roe, give carte blanche back to Wall Street, invade another "I" country, spend $2 Trillion more on the Pentagon and enable the whacko tea partiers in the republican congress. I like what wally said about the voters that know Mitt Romney best are voting 2 to 1 against Romney.

“He’s forgetting what his own positions are — and he’s betting that you will too,” Obama told an audience of 9,000 at George Mason University. “I mean he’s changing up so much and backtracking and sidestepping. We’ve got to name this condition that he’s going through. I think it’s called Romnesia.”

“If you say you’ll protect a woman’s right to choose, but you stand up at a primary debate and said that you’d be ‘delighted’ to sign a law outlawing that right to choose in all cases, man, you’ve definitely got Romnesia,” he said.

"You know if you say if you're for equal pay, but you can't say if you'll sign a bill for equal pay, you might have Romnesia."

"If you say you think women should have access to contraceptive care, but you support legislation that would let employers deny contraceptive care, you might have Romnesia."

“Obamacare covers pre-existing conditions,” he bellowed. “We can fix you up. We’ve got a cure! We can make you well, Virginia. This is a curable disease”

Can Obamacare cure the Romnesia about being Bush the III?

Liberals,

Look on the bright side. You will get to talk about whether Romney is Bush for at least 4 more years. Enjoy yourselves while I enjoy watching Romney skillfully managing the recovery of our country.

But I have to admit that Romney has his work cut out. I don't think anyone could have ever imagined in his or her wildest dreams that Obama could wreck this country so severely in less than 4 years.

Actually Obama did not ruin this country all on his lonesome. He had help from Nancy Pelosi, Harry Reid, Barney Frank, Chris Dodd and a fawning press that has romanticized Western European Socialism. The President with the help of his Capitol Hill Politburo and White House Czars unleashed several socialist pipe dreams which have bankrupted our country.

Obama had graduated from Trillion dollar deficits to 2 Trillion Dollar Plus deficits.

Florida, Virginia, Iowa, Missouri, and North Carolina are now in the Romney column with Ohio migrating from the Obama Column to toss up status. Given the trending of Ohio by this time next week Ohio will be in the Romney Column with Pennsylvania trending the same. In fact, the Susquehanna Poll has Romney leading Obama in Pennsylvania
49 to 45 percent.

Looks like the SEIU will be working overtime in PA the next few weeks to register felons, and illegal aliens and on election day voting for dead people. Just because some people are dead doesn't mean we should deprive them of their right to vote. Right?

At 1 PM yesterday the Gallup presidential tracking poll showed Mitt Romney with a lead of 6% among likely voters and a lead of 2% among registered voters. Among likely voters President Obama was at 45% compared to 51% for Romney. Among registered voters Obama was at 46% compared to 48% for Romney.

Unskewed polls.com predicts that Mitt Romney will defeat Barack Obama by a 52 percent to 47 percent by national popular vote and by 342 electoral votes to 196 electoral votes.

One of the questions that was not asked is whether Romney is Bush. Apparently that ridiculous question only resonates with the Bay Area Lunatic Left who are venting their frustration at the realization that Mitt Romney will defeat Barack Obama on November 6 thus dashing their hopes for the complete transformation of the United States to Socialism.

Obama is a socialist and that has been proven abundantly. And while the Bush/Cheny policies did not work, the Obama policies have created a nightmare far worse than what Bush/Cheney could have ever done.

You talk about about Obama creating 4.5 million jobs in the last 2 1/2 years. What you conveniently left out is that Obama lost 4.8 million jobs in the 13 months previous to that. You are misleading the people with this omission of a material fact.

Mitt Romney will bring this country roaring back. Obama will just dig us deeper into this economic quagmire. The choce is clear: revival or perdition. The great people of the United States will vote for Romney and revival.

"Did Obama do ANYTHING different than Bush? Nope."

Liar.

1. "Wars still going" One is shut down as promised, the other ends in about a year.

2. Bush declared 6 months after 9/11 that he didn't care about bin Ladin. Obama? bin Ladin sleeps with the fishes. (ask Romney about his policy)

3. Bush wanted to privatize Social Security before the huge Bush crash.

4. Bush did nothing for the 45 million without medical insurance, or the monstrously bad policies of health insurers, like pre-existing conditions, etc..

5. Bush dropped the stock market to 8000. It's 13000 under Obama. My 401k appreciates that!

The list goes on and on.

Then there are jobs Web Link

Even a fifth grader can read that chart Bush < Obama

No one can answer the difference between Romney and Bush however.

No one here has even tried.

1. How is the war 'shut down'? We still have soldiers over there, people are still dying, military operations are still occurring in both countries. How is that shut down? Because they said so? Do you just listen to the words coming out of their mouths? Or do you actually look at the actions? Of course, you could get technical about it, since war was never declared by congress like the Constitution says it should be. So really, they are police actions, like Vietnam. So I guess you can have that point.
Oh yeah, the wars were NEVER about terror, it's about pipelines, natural gas and oil.

Dick Cheney:The good Lord didn't see fit to put oil and gas only where there are democratically elected regimes friendly to the United States. Occasionally we have to operate in places where, all things considered, one would not normally choose to go. But, we go where the business is.
Speech delivered at the Cato Institute, June 23, 1998

2. What does that have to do with anything? Because Obama got lucky that the tip off came during his presidency? The ONLY reason Bush said that was to deflect from his failure to capture Bin Laden. Of course, knowing the Bush's ties to The Saudis and Oil, I would be surprised if that was an accident.

3. I can concede that point, however, actually privatizing SS is a near impossible task. The people are too vested in it, its the one thing the population at large seems to care about.

4. And Obamacare did what? REQUIRE that Americans purchase insurance. He did NOTHING for the people, and generated a windfall for the insurance companies. More federal dollars going to the insurance companies when it needs to be going to the medical providers.

5. The president has VERY little to do with the stock market. Sure, the presidents policy can influence some short term fluctuations, but to credit a president, one man, with the overall health of the stock market shows you have little to no knowledge of how the stock market works.

There are always jobs, what we have an abundance of is unemployment.
Of course, to prove your point you post a graphic, without attribution, from a private blog, and who knows where those numbers are coming from and what they are based on, theres no attribution to be able to check, so, yeah, pointless and irrelevant chart for the win!

Yeah, the list goes on and on, however, none of it, for either candidate, is positive.
Also, when debating, leave the personal attacks out of it, they only serve to weaken your position.

Anyone who thinks that Roe V Wade is in any more danger of being threatened over the next 40 year relative to the last 40 obviously has not paid any attention to even the conservative's positions on the SCOTUS. Roe V Wade will never be struck down....I repeat, NEVER.

As for the rest of womens rights that you think will be at risk, please list them one by one so we can debate them. I will say that the only chance of Women's rights being rolled back will be due to the PC liberals allowing for Sharia Law to take hold.

Fear, not paying attention much, are you? You don't think it's real??? That's either disingenuous, a lie, or ignorance.

Just look at Paul Ryan's record. Dozens and dozens of REAL votes (not fearmongering) against abortion.

Co-sponsoring a radical ‘Personhood’ bill which outlaws abortion in all cases, even RAPE, INCEST and HEALTH of the MOTHER. It also will outlaw most forms of hormonal birth control (the pill.)

Forcing women to carry the child of their rapist, is not 'fearmongering'. It's the GOP way. Ryan CO-SPONSORED it.

Paul Ryan's co-sponsor? Todd "LEGITIMATE RAPE" Akin.

Just a one-off pairing of Todd "LEGITIMATE RAPE" Akin and Paul "Carry the Rapist's Child" Ryan? Go to Thomas(dot)gov. Just in the last two years, Todd "LEGITIMATE RAPE" Akin and Ryan had 37 bills sponsored or co-sponsored by both Representatives during the 112th Congress.

At state levels, it's almost as bad as Ryan's forcing a woman to carry the child of their rapist. How about Virginia's forced vaginal probe ultrasound requirement?

How is a "forced vaginal probe ultrasound requirement" not the perfect metaphor for the intrusive, big government style of the GOP? The GOP and how they seek to control a woman's body are the closest thing we have to Sharia law.

Romney/Ryan = Bush/Cheney

Except in the area of Women's Health: Romney/Ryan are worse for American Women than Bush/Cheney.

Obama gets over 300, possibly 332.

Christie dissed Romney for two reasons.... one is he knows Romney never had a chance, second is he's up for reelection next year and prefers the photos with the winner, not the loser.

Christie actually faces a somewhat challenging run. NJ has two props on the ballot designed to bring out the blue -- a min wage and an estate tax prop.

Didn't they believe the math?

Guess not. After all, republicans don't use math in their budget proposals, why should they use math for polls?

Who needs to be good with numbers when God is speaking to you? The Republicans' optimism was faith-based. I guess they need to do more praying and less pontificating about gay marriage, rape victims and that socialist in the White House who actually wants health care to be considered a right for all.
