Zuckerberg, Chan pledge $120 million for local schools

Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg and wife Dr. Priscilla Chan announced Friday a $120 million donation to local high-need schools, primarily in the Ravenswood City School District, which serves East Palo Alto and Belle Haven, and the Redwood City School District.

So glad for this donation. There are severe needs that are not being met in those schools and it makes for a great disparity (that leads to an even higher dropout rate) when the kids get to high school. I think it's wonderful that Mark Zuckerberg and Priscilla Chan are looking at their community and understanding how their contributions might make a difference. I hope their is oversight with how the money is spent and that their donations will be ongoing over time.
