Part of tonight’s Menlo Park Planning Commission meeting will be dedicated to a study session on a proposed Haven Avenue apartment complex.
Developer Greystar LLC plans to build a 146-unit complex on a 4.9-acre site at 3645 Haven Ave. With one, two or three bedrooms each, the apartments would be grouped into five three-story buildings. Amenities would include an outdoor dining area, lounge, pool and spa. The plan calls for 255 parking spaces, with up to 15 set aside for electric cars.
None of the units will be below-market-rate housing, according to the staff report.
The study session will be advisory only. The project will not need to go before the Planning Commission for approval as the city’s community development director is responsible for determining whether it complies with the zoning code.
College Avenue
Also on the agenda: A proposal to turn a single-family home and a commercial warehouse into four townhomes at 612 College Ave., off Alto Lane. The site is located within Menlo Park’s downtown/El Camino Real specific plan area. Two three-story buildings, with two living units apiece, would be built on the 0.2-acre site.
Tonight’s meeting starts at 7 p.m. in council chambers at the Civic Center at 701 Laurel St. The meeting will be streamed live online.
There should be below-market apartments included. Why does the council give developers everything they want? This complex is on a main artery and will result in much more traffic, especially for Marsh Road and 101 entrance.
Developers can pay fees into the BMR fund to avoid building BMR units.
This development will most likely be filled with young Facebook employees that bike or skateboard to work, so there will fewer cars on the road. The garage will be empty, as milennials often don’t own cars.
