Iraq war costs U.S. more than $2 trillion; plus another $4 trillion in interest

Original post made by Reuters - Brown University, Atherton: West of Alameda, on Apr 6, 2015

The bill has been presented.

Hundreds of thousands of lives, trillions of US taxpayer dollars, and all I got was a tee shirt.

And ISIS.

So happy we cut taxes on millionaires and billionaires at the same time as this war! Tax cuts in time of national peril and war - a first in the the history of civilization.

We're number 1!

Lesson? Never vote for a chicken-hawk, or any politician (D or R) who wants war over diplomacy.

Reuters: Web Link
"The 2011 study said the combined cost of the wars was at least $3.7 trillion, based on actual expenditures from the U.S. Treasury and future commitments, such as the medical and disability claims of U.S. war veterans.

That estimate climbed to nearly $4 trillion in the update.

The estimated death toll from the three wars, previously at 224,000 to 258,000, increased to a range of 272,000 to 329,000 two years later.

Excluded were indirect deaths caused by the mass exodus of doctors and a devastated infrastructure, for example, while the costs left out trillions of dollars in interest the United States could pay over the next 40 years.

The interest on expenses for the Iraq war could amount to about $4 trillion during that period, the report said."

No news here, just an updated tally on the worst US foreign policy decision ever. Anyone who supported this war should be forced to walk through life with a permanently dyed purple finger, so we can easily recognize the stupid folk from those who knew better (especially those who claim enough brains to be a 'leader'.) That said, this item doesn't belong in a local news blog.

My point exactly -- yet, we have one poster on this site who uses this board continuously for their far-right-of-center posts. And that poster has NOT been blocked here.

Why?
