Drought and well water

Original post made by Triona, Menlo Park: Central Menlo Park, on Oct 14, 2015

I would like to see our municipal water agencies doing more to educate the public on the effects of using well water to irrigate landscaping. Many people appear to be unaware that water pumped out for a lawn or other recreational use lowers the water table and negatively effects the many beautiful trees in our communities which depend on deep ground water to survive.

Yes, and some of them will call anyone that doesn't use water in a fashion they think appropriate as "abusive." These people would like to lecture us on water use while they pump water from the ground to irrigate their acre of landscaping. All the while ignoring the damage they do to the water table.
