Most want above ground parking

Original post made by Mike, Menlo Park: Central Menlo Park, on Mar 30, 2016

I guess that I'm in the minority on this issue. I would just like everyone to remember that if we finally do something about our parking situation, we'll live with it for a long time. If you want to look at a bunch of cars, ok, but I'd rather see us make an attempt to beautify our city. We should seek to make it better with each thing we do. Therefore, if the choice is to put the parking above ground, there are still many things that can be done to make these structures look pleasant. The car levels can be hidden with panels, and/or plantings. We can have a small park on top, for sitting and relaxing, and even show the movies as we did last summer, by blocking off the street. We need to move ahead to solve our parking issues, but this doesn't mean we should forget the other important things we want for our home town, beauty, and a comfortable place for residents and visitors (shoppers). REMEMBER, again, whatever we do we will live with for a long time, we should not make individual decisions in a vacuum. Each one should carry us forward to our overall goal.
